Hi, I’m Shannon
I was born and raised in South Carolina and lived in North Carolina and Wisconsin before moving to Michigan with my husband and our furry kids. After settling here, we had two wonderful children, a boy and a girl, and I was able to be a stay-at-home mom for 6 years. Once my kids were in school, I decided it was time to reenter the workforce.
I breastfed both my babies for about 18 months each and my first had some latching difficulties. Working through those issues, I learned a lot about breastfeeding and the people who help those struggling with breastfeeding challenges. I decided to get the formal training needed to help others facing similar issues. It is my goal to help people with both compassion and science-based best practices.
I am currently a Certified Breastfeeding Specialist (CBS) with the goal of becoming an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) through Lactation Education Resources.
How I Can Help
Breastfeeding is for everyone, including people who identify as LGBTQ+. That does not mean that it can’t be challenging. There are a variety of reasons why someone might struggle to feed their baby and many people have these struggles. Even if you aren’t experiencing specific issues, it can help to just talk with a professional. I can help with nursing as well as pumping, both of which are valid ways of feeding your baby.
It is important that you know that no matter the reason you are seeking with help—you are not a failure.
I am here to help you as best I can with the aim of achieving your breastfeeding goals. I am not a doctor; I cannot diagnose or treat medical conditions for you or your baby. What I can do is use my knowledge and training to guide you using science-based practices with the goal of allowing you to be as comfortable as possible with breastfeeding your baby. I will provide you with all the necessary information to make informed decisions. We are a team where I have the tips, tricks, and best practices backed by science, and you are the expert on yourself, your body, and your baby.
